Writer, TV presenter, restauranteur and chef Kylie Kwong has a very unique style of cooking that has been influenced by her training and culture. Kylie was born into a fourth-generation Australian-Chinese family, in Sydney. Kylie gets her inspiration and unique style from her mother, her travels and fine restraunts that she worked at such as Rockpool, Wockpool and Restaurant Manfredi. Kylie has been able to share her cooking style in a television series called kylie kwong simply magic which uses local foods from around the world to create simple authentic Chinese meals. Kylie has also showcased her cooking in a cookbook heart and soul which was published in October 2003. For Kylie, food is both a way of life in the present and a link with the past and her family heritage - especially for her extraordinary great-grandfather Kwong Sue Duk. As she says ‘…by sharing the experiences of my family, I hope to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture, particularly within Australia, and to express my pride in my Chinese heritage.’
